Well ..... one of my favorite thing is doing needlework, and for the past year or so I have rediscovered tatting. I said 'rediscovered' cos I was into it a long time ago (definitely more than 30 years ago) when I was still in school. But other things came along, and I forgot about it.
Then I found a book on tatting when I was browsing at a book store (which is another one of my favorite activities .....) and that brought it all back to me again. Before that I thought it is a dead art, maybe because I don't find many books about it compared to other needlecrafts such as cross-stitch or crochet. So I started to browse the internet and I realise it is not dead at all. There are so many sites on tatting and the designs in the sites are really beatiful. And I began learning new techniques in producing tatting works. But I still have a long way to go to produce anything close to those beatiful designs that I find on the numerous tatting sites.
But I managed to produce some samplers of my original designs, 'samplers' cos they are just small samples of the design. I haven't come up with ideas on what to use them for. Anyway, here are some of them....
This is a sample of an edging, which can be used to decorate the edges of a table linen, or pillowcases or similar things.
This is another edging pattern.
This design can be completed into a circle and used as an edging for a circular piece, of if left unconnected it can be used to dress the collar of a blouse.
I may share more of my designs in future postings when I have new ones and some complete pieces as well. I hope you find the designs interesting.
